Terms of use

These terms cover your use of RetroChat (theretrochat.com): the dashboard, the chat widget, the chatbot and AI features, and the WordPress plugin. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use RetroChat on behalf of a business, you agree for that business.

1. Your account

You must be at least 18 and use RetroChat for your business or organization.
Keep your login details safe. You are responsible for everything done in your account and workspaces, including by teammates you invite.
Only add the chat widget to websites you own or are allowed to change.

2. Free trial

New workspaces start with a free 14-day trial with no payment details needed. When it ends, the workspace's chat and dashboard switch off until you choose a plan. Each account gets one free trial.

3. Plans, extra agents and payment

Plans (Starter, Team, Business and Autopilot) are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly in advance. Prices are on our pricing page and exclude taxes, which are added at checkout where they apply.
Each plan includes a number of agents. On Team, Business and Autopilot you can buy extra agents in bundles; each bundle is its own subscription on the same billing period as your plan.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel them.
Our orders are processed by our online reseller, Lemon Squeezy, which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Lemon Squeezy handles payment, invoices, taxes and customer service questions about payments, and its buyer terms apply to the purchase.
When you switch plans, the change applies straight away and the price difference for the rest of the period is worked out automatically.
We may change prices for future billing periods; we'll tell you before a change affects you.

4. Canceling, refunds and when a plan ends

You can cancel any time from Billing → Manage billing. Your plan and any extra agents keep working until the end of the period you've paid for, and then stop renewing.
Payments are non-refundable. See our refund policy.
If your plan ends or a payment can't be collected, the workspace's chat and dashboard switch off until you reactivate a plan. Your chatbot, contacts and conversations are kept so you can pick up where you left off, unless you delete them.
If your team has more people than paid agent seats (for example, after an extra-agent bundle ends), the most recently added teammates are paused until seats are added or someone is removed.

5. The AI assistant

The Autopilot plan includes an AI assistant that answers visitors from the information you give it. AI answers can be wrong or incomplete, so review what you give it, keep an eye on its conversations, and don't rely on it for legal, medical, financial or safety advice. Monthly AI reply limits apply as shown in your dashboard.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use RetroChat to send spam, to collect data unlawfully, to mislead or harass anyone, to distribute malware, or to break the law; and don't try to break, overload, scrape or get around the limits of the service. We may suspend or close workspaces that do, without refund.

7. Your data and your visitors' data

You own the conversations, contacts and content in your workspaces, and you give us permission to store and process them only to run RetroChat for you. You are responsible for telling your website visitors that chats are recorded and, where needed, processed by AI, and for handling their requests to access or delete their data. Our privacy policy describes what we store and who helps us run the service.

8. Availability and changes to the service

We work hard to keep RetroChat running and secure, but it is provided "as is", without a guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free service. We may improve, change or remove features over time.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, RetroChat is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost revenue or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your workspaces and account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms or put the service or other customers at risk.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for important changes, let account owners know by email before they apply. Continuing to use RetroChat after a change means you accept it.
