RetroChat puts a chat window on your website. A no-code chatbot greets visitors and asks your questions, and a real person can take over at any moment. Every conversation lands in one shared inbox.
This page gets you from sign-up to your first conversation. Each step links to a more detailed guide.
1. Create your account
Go to theretrochat.com/signup and create an account. Every new account gets one free 14-day trial with all Business features and 10 AI replies. No credit card is needed.
2. Set up your workspace
A workspace is one website and its team. During setup you give it:
- A name. This is your business name, and the chatbot uses it as its name in the chat.
- A website. This is the address where the chat will appear.
- A starting chatbot:
- Welcome & triage greets visitors and routes them to pricing, support or a person.
- Lead capture collects a name, email and interest, then qualifies by budget.
- Blank flow is a single greeting to build on.
You can change everything later.
3. Put the chat on your website
There are two ways:
- WordPress: install the RetroChat plugin, then paste your widget key in Settings → RetroChat. See Install the chat.
- Any other website: paste one line of code before
</body>.
Your widget key and the embed code are in the dashboard under Install.
4. Make the chatbot yours
Open Chatbot, edit the flow and press Test to talk to it exactly as a visitor would. When you're happy, make sure the flow is active: only one flow runs at a time. See Build a chatbot flow.
5. Answer chats
Open Inbox and keep it open, or leave the browser tab running, so RetroChat knows you're online.
- Bot: a visitor is still talking to the chatbot. You can watch, or step in at any time.
- Waiting: they've asked for a person.
- Open: a teammate is chatting with them.
See Inbox and team.
